Why Network Marketing?

"When I first heard about network marketing, I was against it," writes Robert Kiyosaki in his recent book, Why We Want You to be Rich.

robert.gifLater Kiyosaki began to see advantages in network marketing that other business opportunities didn't offer.  He found that many network marketing businesses were willing to provide personal development training in key areas.

The Marine Corps taught him leadership skills, recalling, "It was imperative that we be able to lead others into battle."

Kiyosaki states in his book, co-authored with Donald Trump, that he has met many people in the S (Small business owners) quadrant who failed to instill confidence in their employees.  The employees simply didn't trust the owner's leadership abilities.  As a result, the companies didn't expand.

Leadership skills are vital in the B (Big business owners) quadrant for owners who may manage 500 or more in their organization.  Likewise in network marketing, the downline may expand to numbers in the hundreds or even thousands, taxing management skill sets.

"Where do you find the education that trains you for that (B) quadrant?", he asks.  "I recommend a network-marketing business.  I recommend the industry for people who want to change and get the necessary skills and attitude training to be successful in the B quadrant."

esbi.gifMost schools and MBA programs train people for a life in the E (Employee) and S quadrants, he writes.  Being an entrepreneur and building a B quadrant business is one of the toughest challenges a person can undertake but it's the only quadrant that offers financial independence and the chance to be your own boss.

"If it was easy, everyone would do it", he emphasizes.  Kiyosaki had to overcome his feelings of self-doubt, shyness and fear of rejection.  "I had to learn how to pick myself up and keep going after I failed."  These are traits that a person must develop if he or she is to be successful in the B quadrant.

Network marketing affords the individual the opportunity to inspire others to succeed.

In his chapter on Why Do You Recommend Network Marketing, Kiyosaki considers network marking a B quadrant business because:

  • Leverage: Can I train other people to work for me?
  • Control: Do I have a protected system that belongs to me?
  • Creativity: Will the business allow me to be creative and develop my own personal style and talents?
  • Expandability: Can my business grow indefinitely?
  • Predictability: Is my income predictable if I do what is expected of me?  If I am successful, and keep expanding my business, will my income increase with my success and hard work?

Donald Trump writes, "Network Marketing has proven itself to be a viable and rewarding source of income."  He recommends that a person think of a product, then remove the advertising agency from it because you, the network marketer, do the marketing and advertising in your new business.

Trump continues, "There have been some remarkable examples of success, and those successes have been earned through diligence, enthusiasm and the right product combined with timing."

The Donald recommends knowing everything there is to know about the product and concludes with, "do your research and then put everything you've got into your product.  Genuine enthusiasm is hard to beat, and the odds will be with you."
